I am fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy based in Jersey, Channel Islands.
As a counsellor, I see my role as developing a safe, non-judgemental, confidential connection and listening to those placing their trust in me and who are experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties. In partnership with my clients, I help identify strengths and vulnerabilities, and help bring about effective change and/or enhance wellbeing. Experience has taught me that when clients feel heard, they feel that their experiences and feelings are valued and from this they are more likely able to seek to understand not just their symptoms but also to address the cause(s) of their worries
I feel privileged that people share their stories, dreams and goals with me. Clients might experience issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, loss, low self-worth and relationship difficulties anything that affects their ability to live their life fully.
Life invariable throws us ‘curve balls’ and knocks us off balance, sometimes leading us to address issues and situations that we are uncomfortable with, feel helpless in or fearful of.
I am here to help and support clients through their struggles. As I specialise in person-centred therapy, I will not be telling clients what to do as I respect that ultimately they know what is best for them and what will work for them, even if at first they do not think so. I will be with you as you explore your thoughts and feelings and consider options available to you.
I offer face to face counselling sessions based at my therapy room in St Helier, Jersey, but also offer online counselling sessions for those clients whose schedules and/or circumstances are not best suited to this.
My experience has exposed me to a wide variety of life’s problems with a very wide variety of clients.
I offer an initial 15 min telephone conversation to introduce myself, ascertain your areas of concern and allow clients time to gain more information to see whether they would like to work with me.
Sessions are 1 hour in length. The main therapy session is 55 mins with the last five minutes spent wrapping up, recapping and identifying areas for future work.
The number of sessions is the client’s choice, there is no minimum and there is no obligation to continue.
